The children and staff at Down Ampney C of E Primary School celebrated Roald Dahl on Thursday 13th September by getting dressed up as their favourite Roald Dahl character and enjoying a day of activities planned to engage and excite them in some wonderfully imaginative books. Children balanced books on egg shells as I am sure Matilda would have loved to, made their own marvellous medicines just like George, and made their very own chocolate bars and expanding sweets just like Charlie would like to. They also based creative writing around some of Roald Dahl’s most popular books and some lucky children were selected to take part in an art workshop learning to draw like Quentin Blake. The school were pleased to also be able to support Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity with a donation being made by the children and their families and every child left with a brand new Roald Dahl book, kindly donated by Down Ampney School’s PTA.
