Parents, governors and staff at Down Ampney C of E Primary School all kicked off their Sport Relief activities by opening their brand new trim trail on Friday. The installation is part of the school’s commitment to children’s improving health and well-being. The Head Teacher was the first person to tackle the course which one Year 2 child described as ‘challenging but enjoyable’.
The trim trail is one of the many ways that staff at Down Ampney C of E Primary School are trying to encourage their children to be more active. In the past year and a half they have taken part in more sporting activities, and for such a small school they have had success in both tennis and cross country competitions. The Chair of Governors, Penelope Morse, who attending the grand opening said, ‘It is great to see so many parents supporting the school. The children are really benefiting both physically and academically from the increased focus on health and well-being at the school.’
