Down Ampney Primary School

Our facilities

Down Ampney C of E Primary School is located in the heart of Down Ampney village, attracting pupils from a wide catchment as well as serving the immediate area.

For a small village school, Down Ampney C of E Primary is very well endowed with fabulous facilities that help create a wonderful learning environment for pupils. The amount of space that the children have available to learn and interact with each other through play is one of the best features of the school. Prospective parents/carers are very welcome to visit the school and have a look around – contact the school office to arrange a convenient time.

The main school building at the front of the school houses the school office and Head’s office and a large classroom which is occupied by Giraffe Class 2 (Yr3 -Y4).

An additional annex classroom which provides flexible space for small group work, extra tuition, and music lessons.

The Butterflies classroom (YR-Y2) is located in a separate building towards the back of the school which is surrounded by a safe, outside play area situated at the back of the infant building. The infants enjoy a friendly welcoming classroom space, perfect for the first years at school

Different areas in the classroom allow for separate group activities and whole-class learning.

Both Giraffe and Butterflies Classrooms are equipped with laptops and touch interactive screens.

The school also benefits from having a very large multi-functional school hall which at the present moment is split into two,  one half is our third classroom Giraffe Class 3 (Y5-Y6). The other half is used for Cookery lesson,  additional classroom space as well as being used as a  dining room at lunchtimes.  Its also used for indoor PE when the weather is not so brilliant.

It has also been known to be transformed into a stage where the whole school preforms a school production.

At the side of the school, we have a newly installed trim trail. Which gets used everyday at morning break and lunchtimes weather permitting.

At the back of the school is a very large playing field which is used all year round (weather permitting) for break and lunchtimes and also for PE and sports day.  After-school clubs like Multi-sports and Archery.   In addition to this, it has also been used for PTA Events and Village events like the Summer Fete, Sausage Sizzle and on the very rare occasions when the weather has been good Spuds and Sparklers.
